<image:title>Lifestyle - DisneyLand Paris - A Dream Come True - When I was a young child watching my Snow White VHS on my black and white TV (Yes I’m that old), I dreamt of a world where I was a princess and could be rescued by a prince. When I was a teen, I watched Mulan on DVD and dreamt of a world where I was a badass warrior who could battle any foe and still look incredible doing it. Now I’m an adult, and I allow each Disney movie to pick me up and carry me away from the world just for a moment. My hopes lift and I feel that weightless joy of a child just for a moment. When I found out that Disneyland existed I couldn’t contain my excitement. I knew that one day, I would go there and be surrounded by the worlds that captured my youth. Little did I know that life would happen and do everything in its power to stop me from going. Until my 32nd birthday that is. This year was the year that I took a stand, threw caution to the wind and booked the tickets. Well, my partner treated me to the park tickets for my birthday. After years of saying that we would go, we finally pulled the trigger. I spent weeks planning my outfit, and what ears I would wear - only for the weather to change so my outfit did with it, and the ears I wanted no longer existed (As I planned them as a child. RIP Padme ears).</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - DisneyLand Paris - A Dream Come True - We hopped on the train for 50 minutes from Paris central, and were on our way! After standing in the sun queuing to get in for some time, we finally made it into the park - and of course the first childhood dream of mine was to get some cute ears to wear around the park. I headed in the first shop that I found, and completely fell in love with some Toy Story ears. They were glittery, bright and of course incredibly expensive but I couldn’t help it. When I was in primary school I dressed as Jessie from Toy Story 2 for a charity day, and I remember feeling the prettiest I ever had. I think about that day often, and the ears made me feel a little closer to her. The park is overwhelming, and gorgeous and filled my heart with such joy. Seeing the castle for the first time was such an overwhelming feeling. It was finally my time to have my photo taken in front of the castle with my cute ears. I was surrounded with beautiful ladies doing just that at all times. There are moments in time where you realise that every little girl is just the same, and we never really grow out of our Jessie costume. My outfit wasn’t what I had planned, my hair wasn’t co-operating but it truly didn’t matter. It was happening.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - DisneyLand Paris - A Dream Come True - We headed into Frontier Land first, which was what I imagine rural America is like. Spectacular buildings and sets were everywhere that we could see. We had thought that the queues were going to be too long for us to go on any of the rides, but that couldn’t have been any less true! This also meant that we hadn’t looked into any of the rides, and had no idea what any of them entailed. We walked straight onto the Haunted Mansion ride, and were blown away by the amount of detail that went into it. Even the waiting areas were filled to the brim with details, animatronics and scenes. It was hard to believe that everything around us was made from scratch. It was so much fun, and the ride itself was so full of whimsy that we couldn’t stop laughing. Then we headed onto Big Thunder Mountain. It was fast, wild and so much fun. The queue was around twenty minutes, but it was totally worth it. As you can see from the photo, we were filled with complete joy. We ended up going on almost every ride including the Indiana Jones ride which includes a loop. A LOOP. You might not know this, but until I was 32 I had managed to escape doing a loop in a rollercoaster successfully. Whilst we waited in the queue a child chickened out in front of me and I jokingly took the mick out of them calling them a baby (To my partner and not the child just to clarify. I’m not about to traumatise a child!). I then, shortly later saw the loop that had scared the child out of the queue and well… I couldn’t really back out of it now could I? I hated it of course, but my partner said it was his favourite ride of the day!</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - DisneyLand Paris - A Dream Come True - I managed to catch one of the characters out and about, and I almost cried when I spotted the Mandalorian waiting for his picture to be taken. I queued for about 10 minutes, genuinely shaking at the thought of speaking with this random person dressed as the character I love so much. Just to give some background information, I have an unhealthy love with Pedro Pascal. Add on his Star Wars costume and I am in love. The staff took the photos for us so that Alistair and I could be in it together. I completely froze up and forgot how to pose, but I am so glad that the staff are trained so well. He started snapping away before it was time to pose and captured us chatting away with him. Mando spoke with us about escaped fugitives that he was chasing and I joked that it “definitely” wasn’t us. He also loved the Grogu shoulder buddy that Alistair was wearing. As we walked away we paused to look at the photos, and over our shoulders we heard “Excellent”. Mando had followed us away and was looking through them with us. It was so much fun, and I was giddy for the rest of the day due to it.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - My Time With The Brontes - There is something special and almost magical about spending time surrounded by the thoughts and ideas of those much older than us. Walking around the homes of those long gone, but almost sensing the hope and lives that they left behind. If you pair the emotion of exploring the homes of lost souls, with those very souls belonging to a famous family that you have adored since you were a young age and it is, oh, fantastic. The Bronte family lived in their parsonage home of Haworth from 1820 to 1861, and I had the abosolute pleasue of exploring it many years later in 2026. The very home where the Bronte sisters wrote all of their famous works that we still know and love to this day. With both my visit, and the new Wuthering Heights movie releasing in the same year I thought I would share my time at the Bronte’s house with you, and encourage you to do the very same. The parsonage museum is situated within the lovely town of Haworth, which even if you don’t manage to find the museum - I encourage you to explore anyway. Haworth has a long hill of a high street, filled with quaint stores brimming with everything from trinkets to withcraft items to handcrafted goods. I was slightly disapointed with the lack of bookstores considering where we were, but the themed Bronte sister beers in the local pub at the top of the high street soon cheered me up. I wonder what the sisters would think knowing that their fame had let them to be the name of the local beer. I actually think they would love it. The museum itself is almost missable, as it hides behind a tall wall and next to large cemetary. The tickets cost fifteen pounds each, and after a short wait queing outside (Where the lovely staff entertained us with trivia questions) we were let inside of the home of my heros.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - My Time With The Brontes - The museum is filled with not only replica, but the Bronte families actual posessions. As soon as you enter, you are met with their dining room with an original portrait of Charlotte on the wall. The artist you may ask? The Bronte brother himself. When I tell you that I was delerious at this point, I mean it. If you look closely, you can see Emily’s very own portable writing desk. Sat with the promise of stories that would thrill us all for years following her death. Sometimes, when I write my own novels, I think of this writing desk. That as a young woman, she must have been filled with ideas and thoughts - with no idea that we would call her “One of the classics” over a hundred years later. I wonder if she felt the same self doubt that plagues my mind, or if the unlikely nature of her becoming a famous author due to her sex and time, simply allowed her pen to flourish unecombered by fear and self deprication. There are a few plaquards in every room that will talk you through each of the areas and the history behind. However, I’ll warn you that it is very narrow and it is sadly, definitely not wheelchair friendly. You will have to fight for a premium shot of the good stuff, but it’s definitely worth it.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - My Time With The Brontes - Some of the original architecture has been changed (Whether intentional for design or due to deteriation from age I don’t know), but the feeling of how they lived really does stay true. You can imagine the sisters warming by the fire after hours exploring the moors, or pushing through to find something to eat late at night after hours of writing and reading. The cupboards and floors are higgledy piggledy, and the stairs are extremely steep. I had to grip on tight to the handrail in order to not fall, not to mention that the general public are not exactly known being gracious. Due to the narrow nature of the home, you really do have to fight for space on a busy day. It was hard to imagine such a large family living happily there for so long.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - My Time With The Brontes - Of course there was a few props from the new Wuthering Heights movie in the museum. At the point of my trip the movie hadn’t come out, but I was filled with tentative excitement at the thought of watching it. I will be sharing my thoughts on the movie in another post, so look out for that! Right at the end of the museum there was a gift shop, which is universally agreed to be the best part of any museum. This wasn’t an exception. The shop was filled with the usual magnets, pens, tote bags and more - but what surprised me the most was the amount of Margot Robbie and Charlie XCX merchandise and photos. Of course they are the actress and Soundtrack creator of the new movie, but I just didn’t expect to see their smiling faces everywhere. From the photos, Margot had made the journey to the parsonage herself and posed with the book in various areas of the museum. However, Charlie XCX looked back at me in photos from what looked like her own home. She pouts and holds the Wuthering Heights museum special edition book. I could really tell which one of the ladies was passionate about the project.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - My Time With The Brontes - So of course I couldn’t help myself, and I snapped up the book that Charli XCX had posed with due to its gold page edges and vintage style cover. It now lives on my bookshelf and will be lovingly read through for what I hope is many years to come. I had purposefully not purchased a new copy since I heard of the release in the hopes that I could get a special edition. Now, knowing that my copy has come from their very home - I couldn’t love it more. Now I know a museum can only hold the belongings of the people we admire, and we can’t really know how they truly lived; but being in the parsonage and walking the stone steps of the village really sent me back in time. Their time. Despite being 31 years old, part of me still wishes I could wear traditional gowns and wander the streets imagining my life in their time without judgement of the common folk - and maybe one day I will. (Although I’ll probably save it for a themed event like a Pride and Predujice ball). Overall, the experience was fantastic and I would definitely go back. It’s well worth the fifteen pounds and the hour of time it takes to walk through. I highly encourage you to battle crowds, don some comfortable shoes and take the trip. Even if it’s just to wander Haworth high street and drink a Bronte beer. I’d love to hear who you think will be the next “classic” who we’ll be wandering through the homes of in the year 2100. I’m yet to be convinced.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - This year I turned 32, and the one thing that I had on my mind was … well, Disneyland Paris (Post coming soon!), but then when it came to Paris all I could think of was food. Me and Alistair are big foodies, and we never let being vegan change that. So I immediately started looking up the best places to eat in Paris central. Website, after website blurred before my eyes before I stumbled across my favourite place for the actual people - Reddit. In one post someone mentioned that they ate at FIEF, which was followed by hundreds of others upvoting and cheering on the idea. One quick look at their website and my heart soared. A Michelin Star restaurant. One thing I have always wanted to do is visit a Michelin Star restaurant, and as a vegan I thought it wasn’t possible. I am so so so glad that I was wrong. FIEF has one michelin star, and serves and focuses on French only ingredients, farms and cuisine. They have two menus, one that is meat, and one that is plant based. I booked weeks in advance, paid my deposit and waited…</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - So, let’s start with the restaurant. It is small, intimate and moody. Low lighting, candles and comfy seats. The waiter took us straight to our table, assumed I would take the booth seat as the lady (He was correct, and I love when they do that) and let us know that the waiter would be over soon. A quick note, is that the tables are VERY close to eachother. I absolutely didn’t mind, and I felt like we still had enough room to be private - but if you need more room in your seating then I would definitely let them know in advance. Everyone in the room turns and says Bonjour when you pass regardless of how busy they are. They really make you feel welcome. The plant based menu is called Vegetal Love, and is five courses. The menu changes with the seasons and availability so you will most likely never eat the same thing again. If you’re anything like me and search the web for the menu in advance - it will not be the same. Trust me - I tried! It’s five courses, but technically seven including your pre and post mini bites. You also get the choice of wine pairings. There is a Discovery and a Celebration option, one being £50 and the latter £90. There is a non alcoholic pairing priced at £30. We went with the Discovery. Now, we are not wine people at all but as it was an experience, we thought we would trust in them and get the whole ordeal. We also had a pre drink which was offerred as we got to the table of a cocktail and a beer.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - First up are the appetizers. Now, when I tell you, that little tube in the back was the first thing that we put in our mouths and it completely blew our minds. I mean it. We still talk about that little crispy tube now. By this point, I was two cocktails in (I had a lemon spritz that might aswell have been gasoline from a small bar before the meal) and starting on my first wine so I was a little fuzzy on the details but I tried to scramble and take notes for you. So, the tube was a Rosemary puree, in a crisp shell. Sounds boring, and no doubt they have many more flavours than that one included but it’s all I could take in when the waiter gave us the overview. The shell cracked under the lightest pressure so we shoved it straight in - and my god! It was insanely good. The flavour coated my mouth straight away and really set us up for an insane night. To the left is a Wasabi and Celeriac puree in a shell casing. Fantastic bright and lovely flavour. The bottom is smoked Beetroot on a Buckwheat belini. It was smoky, earthy and dense. Three perfect bites.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - Next up is the Green peas and ajo blanco, cherries and elderflower. Now, when I explain what this is like just bare with me. It’s like thinly sliced green beans in some milk. I know, I know it sounds awful but it doesn’t taste like that. The peas are fresh, the “milk” is actually creamy and savoury and coats the mouth. The cherries on top add a tart sweetness that cuts through the richness. I definitely wasn’t expecting this kind of plate, and I struggled to eat it slightly due to the fear that my spoon was for dessert and I didn’t want it to get… milky? I should have definitely used it though as they replace the cutlery each time. So don’t be an idiot like me! It was light and fresh and a great first course. It was paired with a red wine which I didn’t catch the name of. I wouldn’t say the red wine added anything to the appetizers or this course, but again I am not a wine person. It was still delicious but definitely a flavour that went over my head. The other wines though were incredible, more to follow!</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - The second course is Pepper served like Beef tartare, miso and fresh herbs. Now when you hear beef tartare you might grimace like me. The thought of raw pounded meat makes me yip, but this honestly blew me away. The texture is like beef tartare, but the flavour couldn’t be any different. It was sweet and savoury all at the same time. There were small crisps which you can see at the top of the picture, which added a lovely crunch to such a soft texture. The yellow circle in the middle on the “tartare” was just like an egg yolk. I don’t know how they did it, but it burst when I poked it with my fork just like a runny yolk. It added a delicious richness into the dish which I adored.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - Spring Sui Mai, concentrated broth, Sichuan pepper from Normandy. This dish was a true spectacle, and is served without the broth which is poured tableside. Now for the normal people like me, this tasted like an open topped pasta or dumpling with a “meaty” filling. The dumpling was nice, but the broth was where it blew us away. It was floral, rich and coated your mouth completely with flavour. The white wine that we were sipping at this time paired a fruitiness with the savouriness of the broth.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - This was the Sorrel sorbet, herbs pesto and absinthe. I was really hesitant to put this in my mouth I won’t lie. I made my partner try it first out of fear. Absinthe, herbs and pesto sounded awful together. Especially in the form of sorbet which my brain tells me should be sweet and delicious. I was so wrong. If you are a millenial like me you will have watched Princess Diaries where she shoved a whole load of sorbet like this in her mouth and immediately gets brain freeze. It was a palatte cleanser and not a dessert which means she gets odd looks from everyone around her. That scene is all I could think of, and all that prevented me from doing the same! This really is a pallette cleanser. It was herby and strong, but also creamy and delicious. Not a spec of alcohol taste, and it was incredibly earthy. My mouth was free from every flavour we had eaten so far - ready for dessert.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - This dessert really sent me through a tailspin. Tulameen Raspberries and Black Olives from Nyons, Rosemary. The outside was like soft meringue that melted in your mouth. The filling was fruity and sweet - but the real kicker is the olives. There were crispy almost freeze dried black olives through out the dessert. A savoury pocket of crunch in a sweet and smooth dessert. At first I didn’t like them, and it broke my heart. I feared it would be the first meal I didn’t really like, but then as I continued to eat I found myself searching for them. The clash between the crisp and soft, and the savoury and sweet blew my mind. It shouldn’t have worked but it truly did. This dessert was proof that you need to stick with something a few moments before you write it off completely! The chef had a vision, and I got there eventually! Thank god!</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - The Mignardises were a perfect finish to an incredible meal. It was a remix on the classic desserts. The bottom bowl was like a cold foamy rice pudding, it was sweet and soft and perfect for a light finish. The left dish was two sweet crisps sandwiching a fruity puree mimicking a fruit roll up. The right and final dish was a soft gummy pretending to be a wine gum flavoured with szechuan pepper. I have to say that the “rice pudding” was one of our absolute favourites of the night. It was just so airy and gave a 90’s dish a complete glow up.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - FIEF - Michelin Stars In Paris - On the booking it asks if you are celebrating something special, and I mentioned that I was going for my birthday. So when they brought out our desserts they also surprised me with a candle to blow out and make a wish with. It was standing in a bowl of flowers. It was such a sweet and kind thing to do and I was truly touched. Our waiter thanked me for choosing to spend my birthday with them and I almost teared up.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - Pink Lettuce - Bust or Bomb? - A day shopping in Chester isn’t complete without falling into a mountain of food. It’s a hub of vibrancy and filled with the most delicious and varied places to eat. Pink Lettuce is no exclusion! My partner and I actually found Pink Lettuce by complete chance on their opening day. We were scanning the walls looking for somewhere new to eat, and found a menu that not only sounded delicious, but at the very bottom whispered the few words that make my heart soar. 100% plant based. We have been going back every time we visit Chester, and I can’t see a time where that will change. Well, where is the best place to start? The vibes of the restuarant are fantastic, twinkly lights and candles. No harsh lighting, and comfortable cosy places to sit. They have a few outside benches for in the summer, but my partner and I love sitting in the big bay windows and watching the world go by as we feast. The staff have always been kind, professional and friendly. We have yet to have a moment where we questioned the service, which makes it such a relaxing experience. They don’t pester, just ask for your order with a smile and deliver it to your table with as much, or as little interaction as you’d like. Now onto the menu. It’s unique. You won’t find your usual pub grub on this menu, oh no! Their food is colourful, weird and delicious. One of our favourites is the pink burger - yes pink! Just like their name, it’s bright and punchy. (Keep scrolling for a picture and thoughts, as of course we ordered it again). The food isn’t the only unusual thing to see - Mocktails! Not just boring drinks with the fun parts removed, but actually nice and thoughtful drinks for those avoiding alcohol. Of course the usual coffees and beverages are there but it definitely makes it easy to accomodate everyone. Now what did we order?</image:title>

<image:title>Food - Pink Lettuce - Bust or Bomb? - Of course we had the Pink Lettuce Special Burger. How could we not? It’s pink! The burger itself is thick and juicy, and not reminiscent of any shop bought vegan burgers that we’ve had before. It’s topped with bacon, cheese, salad, pickles (My favourite) and burger sauce. The actual burger is skewered with a long stick to keep it’s shape that is topped with a physalis fruit which is such a rogue thing to see floating high above your burger. It comes with a side of crispy and hot chips, and a plump onion ring atop. Now, we have had this burger so many times now that I would be a fool to not score it a 10/10. Regardless of the time of year, at least one of us orders a pink burger. There is also a black burger which is a big hit, but there is something about the pink bun that makes us smile. Especially when you’re sitting in the window, and people walk past and do a double take at the brightly coloured meal in front of you. I definitely reccomend that if you give these guys a visit, that the pink burger is at the top of the list - which is rare for me. I’m sick of seeing a burger as the only vegan option at restaurants. Sure, I could be grateful for the same supermarket burger patty on a sad bun with a leaf of lettuce and if I’m lucky - a lick of ketchup. Or, I could expect more. Like this fantastic concoction of colour and flavour.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - Pink Lettuce - Bust or Bomb? - On this recent occasion I tried something a little lighter, and went with the Quinoa Superfood Bowl with an addition of some vegan chicken for some extra protein. I did have the option of a few extra additions such as tofu skewers, cheese and more but I thought the chicken would add something nice to such a colourful meal. Well, you can see from the picture that the meal is gorgeous. It was actually this bowl that made me think - oh! I should show this to the world. I just love how every ingredient is celebrated in it’s own right. Radish, cucumber, lettuce, onion, edamame, avocado and of course quinoa sung back at me. Vibrant and delicious. The chicken was crispy and a perfect crunch. The dressing was a basil pesto concoction, and was kept seperately in a little glass so that you could pour just as much as you want. I of course, dumped the whole thing on. The meal itself is gorgeous, fresh and light. A perfect summer dish to enjoy on a sunny day. The only feedback I had, was that I thought maybe a pickled or acidic addition like lemon in the dressing or dish could bring a slight zing that I thought it missed. What is missing from this photo is the parmesan and black pepper fries that I had on the side - as I am definitely not as healthy as this meal is making me out to be! I did actually only order the plain fries, (Whilst checking out the parmesan fries and considering them too much for my health journey which is of course complete waffle), so when the waitress came over and apologised that the chef had accidentally added the toppings I practically leaped for joy. The universe had made the decision for me - and my god they were delicious! I would say the salad was a wonderful 9/10 for me, and definitely something I would order again!</image:title>

<image:title>Food - Pink Lettuce - Bust or Bomb? - Now I can practically hear you screaming - Dessert Jacqui? On your supposed health journey? I know, I know, but when my partner looked at me over the dessert menu that the waitress handed him whilst I was in the bathroom - what was I supposed to do? The universe threw parmesan on my chips and in my eyes as I accidentally ordered dessert whilst convincing myself that the shopping I did that day counted as excercise. From the summery salad, to the decadent Sticky Toffee Pudding. When I say that I hoovered my plate fast, I mean fast. To the sound of myself moaning and doing a little dance with each mouthful. It was warm, rich and delicious. The pudding itself is soft and melted in your mouth, paired with the smooth salted caramel sauce and the most thick and creamy vanilla ice cream that I have ever tasted. I could have had three of these, although I don’t think my waistband would have appreciated it. I am not a sweet person, but when I say that you should drop everything and go try this - I mean it. Wow, just wow. I will have dreams of this beauty. 100/10. It deserves an award.</image:title>

<image:title>Food - Pink Lettuce - Bust or Bomb? - Now, my partner is a huge waffle fan. It was the first thing that we hunted down when we went to Brussels, so when his eager eyes found Topped Belgian Waffles on the menu he practically cheered. You have the option of a full or a half portion. We quickly found out when the food arrived that it means one or two waffles. Which we found a strange wording on the menu. When we asked the waitress if the full was much bigger (fooling ourselves that we were trying to be healthy again, before inevitably ordering the larger one) she once again confirmed the terms full and half, meaning full or half portion. She didn’t seem to really clarify the one or two waffles explanation. I have noticed that the website explains correctly, so don’t be confused by the in house menus! But of course, we ordered the full option and I’m glad that we did, as it was the perfect amount. Piles of berries, raspberry coulis, chocolate sauce and a light dusting of pistachios. There was also a healthy scoop of the same vanilla ice cream that was on my dessert much to my partner’s delight. We are in complete agreement that the ice cream is a marvel. Overall, my partner rated the waffles an 8/10. They agree that they were delicious but he would have preferred the waffles to be a little more crispy, and the confusion around portions was a little strange. But just to be clear, they were delicious and we definitely reccomend them!</image:title>

<image:title>Food - Pink Lettuce - Bust or Bomb? - So - the Pink Lettuce. A bust or a bomb? Well, if you haven’t guessed yet - it’s definitely the bomb. The food is imaginative, bright and fun. The staff are warm and the atmosphere is welcoming. Every time that we go, we find something new and exciting to try and it feels like they are always trying to change and mix things up without removing any of the fan favourites. We spotted on a notice board whilst we were in there, that they are now doing Sunday dinners when booked in advance which we are now desperate to try. If you are vegan in the area, or even just curious about a different type of cuisine I would implore you to call into Pink Lettuce and see where the journey takes you. Don’t blame me if your food at home seems a little less colourful when you leave!</image:title>
